Trust the people
As an applied theatre artist, Carley is blessed to share a birthday with the late, great Augusto Boal who believed that theatre is a rehearsal for the revolution. Embodying the teachings of adrienne maree brown, Carley holds space for participants to explore the bounds of their humanity, and bring that humanity forward into our most ideal community. As an artistic facilitator, Carley centers deep listening, vulnerable sharing, and bold imagination to help communities explore and solve the issues that matter most to them.
Youth Arts Education
Carley has worked as an administrator and as a teaching artist with hundreds of k-12 students. Whether through afterschool programs or in school residencies, Carley guides students through finding their voices are artists and activists. Carley uses devising and Theatre of the Oppressed techniques to build students’ confidence in being heard as valued community voices not only in the future, but right now.
Collegiate and Community Facilitation
As a community facilitator, Carley works with organizations and individuals to find interpersonal connection and action through storytelling and embodied practice. Through her work, Carley helps community organizations and collegiate departments define their values and create a plan for accountability to their values while centering compassion, candor, and creativity.
